With the year’s end just around the corner, now may be a good time to review your PSM program and assure that all the things you’re supposed to do have been done. A lot of little tasks can be overlooked and cause a finding during your compliance audits. Have your operating procedures been reviewed and certified? What about your three year refresher training? And there could be some mechanical integrity issues out there, too. Did all this year’s MOC’s get closed out? The final review or signatures can often be overlooked.

Now may be a good time to look ahead and plan for next year. A lot of RMP’s were filed in 1999, and if that is your anniversary date, you should be re-submitting your RMP next year also. Download RMP-Submit and review all the information required to file and start planning to fill in all those dates now. Schedule your PHA or compliance audits early and begin to prepare the team for their involvement.
Pull out a calendar and plan your year now to assure that all those required events happen. Training? Operating Procedure certification? Contractor information update? All those little things that tend to get in the way of real work.
Here’s to a prosperous and productive new year!!
